Lahmacun

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 recipe pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb or beef, onion, garlic, tomato paste, parsley, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  2. Divide the pizza dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a thin circle on a floured surface. Place the circles on baking sheets that have been dusted with cornmeal.
  3. Spread the meat mixture evenly over the dough circles, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Bake in a preheated 450 degree F oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the meat is cooked through.
  5. Serve hot with lemon wedges and parsley.

Notes

Lahmacun can be served as a main course or as a snack. It is often topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions and rolled up like a burrito.
